Easy ways to reward chores with Technology
Today everyone has a computer in their home. Throw in a couple of laptops, tablets, gaming systems and you have a household full of technology. The problem is our kids enjoy these so much that it makes it difficult for them to even keep their room clean.
Technology is the way of the future, so in reality it is good for kids to stay current with computers and other such devises, but at the same time we do need to limit how much they use it. We do not want our kids growing up to be couch potatoes. Kids still need to go outside and play, socialize and be active.
Limiting your kid's time in front of the TV, computer or gaming console can be hard to do. But with a bit of work you can make it productive for you, while keeping your children active. So for example you want to limit their time to one or two hours in front of technology. Set up a chore based reward system for their favorite activities. You can tailor it to your child's interest. For example: If they do the dishes they can play the Xbox for 30 minutes, or if they vacuum the house they can watch TV for an hour. You can set how long of a reward they receive for any specific scenario.
The best part about this system is if they do not do any chores they do not get to use the television, Gaming console, or tablet. You teach them responsibility, which will last a lifetime. Your kids will know that cleaning or general household responsibilities come before entertainment. Your kids stay active and not planted in front of a digital device.
